New Orleans Saints Win Super Bowl 2010

February 08, 2010 By: Kay Meaders Category: Uncategorized

A city nearly destroyed by hurricane Katrina five years ago exploded with joy as the New Orleans Saints upset the Indianapolis Colts in one of the greatest upsets in Super Bowl history.   Brees was a little overshadowed by Peyton Manning in the first half  but came out to win in the second half  which they did starting with an off side kick.  After that there was no stopping them.  With this win Mardi Gras started early on Bourbon Street.  Everyone had reason to celebrate, Metaire LA, Harahan LA, Chalmette LA, Merreo LA, Estelle LA, Belle LA, Timberlane LA and the entire state of Louisiana.  Drew Brees celebrated with his wife and his son, Baylen.  As for the saints, signing Brees was the best free-agent move in NFL history.  And it led to one of the best performances ever in a super bowl.

Super Bowl 2010 Miami FL – Indianpolis Colts and New Orleans Saints

February 06, 2010 By: Kay Meaders Category: Uncategorized

Tomorrow, Sunday Feb 7, is the Super Bowl.  The hold that the NFL has on America is only solidified by Super Bowls like this, when good guys win and heroes are rewarded and you feel OK even about the losers. You come away wondering what’s not to embrace about something that can be so grandiose yet ultimately so human.

That’s what makes the Super Bowl more attractive than ever. A record 144million people, enticed by all the feel-good stories the NFL produces will be watching this game.  Personally I will be watching, not so much for the game, but for the commercials.  At 1.5 million for a 15 second spot  the commercials should be something to watch.  Super Bowl XLIV will be played this coming Sunday, February 7, in Miami FL at 5:25 CST on CBS.  Be sure to catch this game – if not for anything else but for the commercials.

Also, keep in mind that the Winter Olympics start on February 12 in Vancouver Canada.  And NASCAR kicks off the season Sunday February 14 at Daytona Beach, FL.  And for all you men out there, Valentines Day is next week – don’t forget.

Come to PerfectSigns for all your signage needs.  Digital Printing, coroplast, neon, banners, billboards, alupanel, ecopanel, vehicle graphics, vinyl lettering, magnets, real estate signs, PerfectSlicks, and much more.

The Groundhog Has Spoken – Groundhog Day 2010

February 02, 2010 By: Kay Meaders Category: Uncategorized

Punxsutawney (puhnk-suh-TAW-nee) Phil has emerged to see his shadow before chilly revelers in Pennsylvania, meaning winter will last another six weeks.

German tradition holds that if a hibernating animal sees its shadow on February 2nd- the Christian holiday of  Candlemas- winter will last another six weeks.  If no shadow is seen, legend says spring will come early.

The Inner Circle of Punxsutawney Groundhog Club annually announces Phil’s forecast at dawn on Gobbler’s Knob, about 65 miles northeast of Pittsburg PA.  Phil’s announcement came before hundreds of onlookers who huddled as temperatures hovered in the teens.

The Groundhog Club says since 1887 Phil has predicted more winter weather by seeing his shadow nearly 100 times.

St. Louis MO, A City On The Grow

February 01, 2010 By: Kay Meaders Category: Uncategorized

St. Louis was founded in 1764 just south of the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi rivers by colonial French traders who named the settlement after King Louis IX of France.  Napoleon sold it to the United States in 1803.  Nicknamed the “Gateway to the West” for its role in the westward expansion of the United States, the city gave the moniker in 1965 to the new Gateway Archway built as part of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial; the arch has become the iconic image of St. Louis.

St. Louis lies at the heartof Greater St. Louis, a metropolitan area of nearlythree million people in Missouri and Illinois.  Some of the cities are Caseyville MO, Madison MO, Granite City MO, Venice MO, East St. Louis MO, Northampton MO, Shrewsbury MO, Oakland MO, Cahokia MO, and many more.  With it’s widely diversified immigrant population, St. Louis is a city on the grow.  This makes it a great place to start a small business.

Holocaust Remembrance Day January 27, 2010

January 27, 2010 By: Kay Meaders Category: Uncategorized

January 27 is Holocaust Remembrance Day memorializing those killed by the Nazis before and during World War II.  Holocaust Remembrance Day becomes more urgent each year because fewer of the survivors of the Holocaust are still alive.  If you ever have an opportunity to talk to anyone who actually survived the Nazi camps, I suggest doing so while you still can.

When most people think of the Holocaust, they think of that famous number:  six million Jews.  However, millions of others were also killed by the Nazis in concentration and death camps:  Gypsies, homosexuals, political prisoners, criminals, nonwhites, and prisoners of war.

Let us join together in remembering this day in prayer, lest we never forget.
